Is there anything quite so sublime as a sweetly sleeping baby? This moment ... sigh. Such quiet beauty. Such glory. Some moments of glory are just way too obvious to overlook; they overwhelm and assault our senses. They take our breath away.
These giant, not-to-be-missed moments of glory are surrounded by millions of moments of equal glory that are sometimes so "familiar" that we fail to be quite so aware of them. The repetitious, mundane tasks and activities that fill our days. The cycling thru "stations" of awake-time play-time...
The earliest days of high chair shenanigans...
Toes in the grass, big air, and drooling ...
Diaper change after diaper change after diaper change ...
The tickles and rollovers and cuddles and tummy-time (plus, toes are yummy) ...
Feeding time, again and again ...
And, finally, the sublime nap time ... the one with no time/length guarantees ...
Followed by the slow, mellow wake-up and stretches ...
And the repetition of all of the above - ordinary/extraordinary, familiar moments of daily life. Glory to glory ... "The whole earth is full of His glory." (Is 6:3)
