Poppies.

Details:  all macro, all 100mm.  Wrong time of day (noon).  Way too windy (boo).  I bumped my ISO a bit:  400 (for the sunny shots), 800 (for the shady shots) in order to keep my shutter speed high enough to combat the wind.  Because of the wind, I left my tripod at home and utilized my "lazy man macro" technique, outlined here.

You had me at "poppies"! I started salivating before the page could even load. ;-) I have never seen those rings at the base of the blossoms before. MUST get to the arboretum this spring.

So pretty! Such a nice dose of spring and color compared to our brown grass and melting dirty snow. Thank you!

I keep telling myself I need to get out take poppy photos like I did last year!!! Seeing yours puts a fire under my rear end. These are beautiful, as always. :)

WOW! I loved your post on hand held macro shots too. Sometimes setting up a tripod is like working with a giraffe...all legs! Good reminders about settings. Oh and in a few months, I should be seeing flowers here too! OK, that might be a slight exaggeration!
