“After all," Anne had said to Marilla once, "I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.” ~L.M. Montgomery, Ann of Avonlea

“I don't mean what other people mean when they speak of a home, because I don't regard a home as a...well, as a place, a building...a house...of wood, bricks, stone. I think of a home as being a thing that two people have between them in which each can...well, nest.” ~Tennessee Williams
“A first child is your own best foot forward, and how you do cheer those little feet as they strike out. You examine every turn of flesh for precocity, and crow it to the world. But the last one: the baby who trails her scent like a flag of surrender through your life when there will be no more coming after--oh, that's love by a different name.” ~Barbara Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible
“Once there was a tree, and she loved a little boy.” ~Shel Silverstein, The Giving Tree
“Man wanted a home, a place for warmth, or comfort, first of physical warmth, then the warmth of the affections.” ~Henry David Thoreau, Walden
“I wonder if it will be—can be—any more beautiful than this,’ murmured Anne, looking around her with the loving, enraptured eyes of those to whom ‘home’ must always be the loveliest spot in the world, no matter what fairer lands may lie under alien stars.” ~L.M. Montgomery, Anne of the Island
“I am at home among trees.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
“Thank you, Mr. Rochester, for your great kindness. I am strangely glad to get back again to you: and wherever you are is my home—my only home.” ~ Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre
“It was so lovely, Heidi stood with tears pouring down her cheeks, and thanked God for letting her come home to it again. She could find no words to express her feelings, but lingered until the light began to fade and then ran on.” ~ Johanna Spyri, Heidi

Oh my word. That is a lot of relationships to capture. The quotes are as much perfection as the photos. This has me grinning--gorgeous family! I'm sure you enjoyed this as much as they will. :-)
This made me smile too...the family dynamics that as parents we never forget, even when our kids are older and parents themselves!
It's BEAUTIFUL!!!
Your photographs, as always capture such special moments in time. I am so touched by your choice of quotations. The whole post is just lovely. Thank you Susan.
