KAUAI: The Last Bits

The big and little things I don’t want to forget.  Like, this room:living room livingThis room with seating for all of us.  And room to spare.  I love that we all hung out in here together.  Comfortably.  Cozily.  Sometimes doing the same thing (playing Monopoly, watching movies).  Sometimes doing our own thing.  But together.  That was awfully nice.34820121106_104045The light.  The glorious, warm, abundant light that filled this house during the day.IMG_818920121106_065606The yard.  The HUGE yard.256IMG_8511IMG_8501The HUGE yard that was filled each night with HUGE bullfrogs.  IMG_8748IMG_8750Ok.  A not-so-great thing:  all the windows/skylights with rusted out, bent screens that allowed wasps to come and go as they pleased.  The ones that didn’t leave of their own volition … we killed.  Not fond of wasps.IMG_8194Another not-so-great thing:  this BBQ.  It barely worked.  Which was a bad thing, because we splurged on the house.  Not on restaurants.456But the not-so-great stuff didn’t leave too bad a taste in our mouths, because of course, we were living at this beach.  This beach/cove where we saw the sun rise.IMG_9432And the sun set.IMG_8620The sun hidden by clouds.IMG_9079And the sun gloriously shining.  IMG_8407This jeep, which was so much fun.  With the top on and the top off.  It was so much fun, it may have had something to do with encouraging our recent purchase.    373This jeep, that Big Dude was happy to pull to the side of the road to let me grab snapshots of beauty.  20121102_154705Speaking of, and not that I could ever forget this, but … there’s pretty much a beautiful vista wherever you are on this island…IMG_8659IMG_8949IMG_9354And lastly, our one nice meal out (we were probably fed up with the BBQ) at The Common Ground.  Really yummy food.  common ground
This trip was a blessing.  Truly.

I'm a little sad that these are the last bits of your Hawaii photos, I've loved them so much.
(And I'm closing my eyes and imagining myself there instead of the frozen tundra where I am currently.)

Ditto Christina! And also, the b/w lanai (?). And also that you have lingered so long over your vacation. Why not make it last?? :-)

I am so thankful you could have a wonderful vacation. I love your views. LOVE. So excited your husband pulled the fabulous jeep over for you at your whim. You capture life so perfectly.
