Lightroom, How I Love Thee ... Redux

Lightroom is amazing for ever so many different tasks. But without a doubt, the presets in the develop panel are the most fun to experiment with. (please ignore my ending a sentence with a preposition. so wrong. i know.) Below & first is my SOOC image. Following the SOOC image are numerous one-click presets. If you mouse-over the picture you'll see the preset that I used.

I completely agree! Lightroom's presets make visualizing different changes and effects effortless. It has certainly given my photography a boost. Beautiful shot, by the way.

Oh my goodness Susan. Oh. My. Goodness.

Guess what? I got an external hard drive! Now maybe I can download lightroom! So excited : )

Fantastic shot, Susan! I'd like to find a few of these presets. (Written them down...going to look.)

Hey, I shot you an email yesterday about Foto Fusion...just wondering if you ever upgraded to the Extreme version and if it's been worth it? I'm looking at a stack of albums I'd like to create and the multi-page project capability is sounding mighty nice, as well as the other benefits. Any recent thoughts about album making/printing you can share?

PS - Have you landed on a method of arranging your presets that you really like?

I love LR, too! I have several of the presets you used, but I'm off to check out the links and find out where you got "hollywood fade" -- loved it!

Dang! Makes me smile because I look at some of them and think they are just classically "Susan Keller"--and I think of how you incorporate them into your collages and know it's a way of getting around having to choose between them. Because it really is tough to pick your favorite!

Ooooh, I really love the CWP Boost shot. Funky, unexpected colors. Mac, yes? When we grow up (yeah, yeah), we are FINALLY going Mac. With all the digi stuff I do, this Vista garbage is really slowing me down.

I honestly don't know what I'd do without Photoshop. I haven't mastered Lightroom at all, but your results are definitely tempting me. BTW, it's totally find to end your sentence with a preposition. In fact (I could be wrong), but I think having the preposition at the end just changes its function to that of an adverb. Exciting stuff! :) (Also, yet again, I love the crop you chose for this week's FIF. Made me want to start over. I have to quit peeking! :)

Well, now I want lightroom. Your photos are beautiful to begin with, but these clearly are even more beautiful and dramatic with the lightroom variations. Can you achieve the same look in photoshop?
I have worn out the wheel on my mouse going from one photo to another...simply amazing!

Teri - no, I'm pc/vista. My macbook died back at the beginning of the year.

Drew - you made me peek. Your colors for FIF are AWESOME!!! And *sometimes* you can end a sentence with a prep, but in this case, in order to be technically correct I think I would have to have written something like: "...with which to experiment." And that just sounded too formal to me. :-}

Anita - Certainly anything that can be done in LR can also be done in PS. It's just that PS to me seems more cumbersome and slow (waiting for "actions" to be applied before seeing the effect). In LR there's virtually no waiting. As I scroll over presets I instantly see the effect on the image in my preview window.

Susan,
Would I be able to purchase actions, i.e. MCP, and apply them to Lightroom? Or are some actions only for Lightroom and some only for PS

Man oh man!
You make me want Lightroom.

Very very cool! I *hope* to get lightroom in the next few months! I have to say all that YOU'VE had to say about it has been a big influencer for me to go with that rather full on photoshop.
