Field Trip – Keller Style, Part 6

Day Three, in which it is too cold and too windy to even conceive of walking around downtown.  So we drove to Alexandria.  And drove around.  And stayed in the car.  Because, y’know: heat.  And then drove further down the road to Mount Vernon…
alexandria-1 In California, we have earthquakes, so we don’t tend to have brick buildings.  These were soooo pretty.alexandria-2 alexandria-3 There was still a tiny bit of Fall left.  It must have been truly glorious Fall color about a month ago.alexandria-4 alexandria-5 alexandria-6 alexandria-7 alexandria-8 alexandria-9 And this is as close as we got to actually seeing Mount Vernon.  To see the real thing would have cost $80.  We didn’t want to see it that badly.  Because, y’know:  cold.  And $80.alexandria-10 alexandria-11alexandria-20 Another gorgeous sunset greeted us back at our hotel.alexandria-12

"Because y'know: heat." Ha, yes, I know! I'm lucky there is so much beauty outside my kitchen window, because of that same thing. :-)

I realize that many of my photos on trips are taken from the car because no one wants to get out! But the cold is a big factor so I would have stayed in that car too! Beautiful place!

It is so interesting to hear people that aren't used to the dramatic season changes : ). I have to admit, I was FREEZING today and it was a balmy 23 degrees. : )
