And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it. Ezekiel 17:24
Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before You! As when fire sets twigs ablaze and causes water to boil, come down to make Your name known to Your enemies and cause the nations to quake before You! For when You did awesome things that we did not expect, You came down, and the mountains trembled before You. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him. You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember Your ways.
When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which Thou hast broken rejoice. Hide Thy face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Thy presence, And do not take Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit.
All pictures thanks to Android. No thanks to the reflective, “anti-scratch” protective screen film that keeps me from being able to see ANYTHING I’m trying to shoot. Further thanks to Littlest Dude for being such a goof. And oodles of thanks to Big Dude, who had a light work schedule that day, and took the two of us out to play …
Bittersweet ... these wonderful young men and women comprise the "Logic School" at Grace Classical Academy and they will all be moving on to different schools next year. These are the pictures we took this weekend to celebrate their camaraderie and to use in their end-of-year "graduation" slideshow.
By the way, did you all know there are differences between boys and girls?!? Look how nicely and politely and with poise and polish, these girls sit and smile prettily ...
And then the boys ... [ok, I admit it: I might have encouraged them to poke one another!]
The boys were all very good sports. They tolerated me and my camera. And happily traipsed away -- quickly, I might add -- when their photos were done. The girls, on the other hand ... yup, they were pretty much always on-pointe, ready to be photographed, in any & every circumstance (the video below will substantiate my claim).
They are truly a terrific class. GCA will not be the same without them ...
GCA-ers, I put a few of the pictures on Facebook. Feel free to tag yourself (I think the "tag" button should be on the left sidebar area, under the photos). If that doesn't work, then "friend me" and I can tag you, if you like.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
It was a gorgeous, fantastic overnighter of a quickie roadtrip. When we got home, later that night in my own cozy, soft, WARM bed, I said to Big Dude, "That was AWE-MAZING. But, let's not do it again anytime soon, 'k?" :-)
