What you can learn about the Kellers from these photos:

1. We like puzzles.
2. You would NOT find our bedrooms in a Pottery Barn catalog, despite my love for PB aesthetics/design.
3. The Dudes' laundry is often not folded (their chore, not mine) and put away in a timely manner.
4. Littlest Dude is one relaxed, goofy dude ... who probably still needs a nap, but no longer takes one.
5. The tripod in the background is for the Dudes' use, not mine. They like to make Lego movies.
6. Some of our shelves house something other than books. But these toy shelves are neither neat nor tidy nor properly "contained."
6.5. Boys' toys usually always have hundreds of pieces. sigh.
7. Fish-eye often sneeks in a sexy knee or two ... ;-)
8. Sometimes the carpet eats a puzzle piece or two or three. But not this time. This particular puzzle was finished in just a couple days with all pieces intact. A nice turn of events.

Tell me more about that bed! It looks so interesting. Maybe it's just the angle. Or the fisheye. And is that a shelf attached to the ceiling??

I covet Pottery Barn. And now my daughter drools over the PB teen catalog that seems to arrive weekly...

Big Dude made the bed!!!! Out of plumbing pipes!!! And yes, those are shelves hanging from the ceiling. Big Dude totally thinks outside the box.

I also love the bed and shelves, so cool! I used to love big puzzles when I was younger. Elora likes puzzles too, but nothing bigger than about 35 pieces yet! It would get lost way too fast.
Love your knee too :)

Your boys' play area looks infinitely better than ours does, if that makes you feel any better. :) I love doing puzzles, but we haven't done any big ones as a family. Maybe we'll get some out this fall. Is that a big cork board that the puzzle is on? What an awesome idea. We don't have any dedicated space we can use for ongoing puzzle projects and that would work really well!

I love puzzles. I work for an insurance company in a crazy and creative marketing department. From time to time our department will work together on a jigsaw puzzle. Great bonding!

Your comment about how the boys love to make films using their legos reminds me of a book I'm reading right now about Phil Vischer the creator of VeggieTales. It is entitled "Me, Myself, & Bob A True Story About Dreams, God, and Talking Vegetables". He used to film things like legos when he was a boy. Talk about a kid who was allowed to pursue his dreams and thinking outside the box. This book is funny and interesting. I highly recommend it.

Love that fish eye. I wish you'd stop tempting me with it so much. I also loves boys, regardless of their toys!

Life is not about perfect or picked up. Life is about living. I never even noticed the things around the boys (except the puzzle), I noticed their faces and their postures, the comfort level that was so apparent.

See, I've thought about how/what I want people, and especially my kids, to remember me when I'm gone.

I want them to sit around after the service and remember the times I let them play in the water at the end of the drive after a heavy rain storm. The times they went sliding down the backyard, sluicing water and digging up the lawn. The times we rode our horses at midnight. The laughter and the fun of growing up. The things we played at together.

What I DON'T want them to remember is a mom who was grumpy because the house was littered with toys, or how I made doing dishes more important that putting a puzzle together.

No no no....the puzzles....they are much much better.

Puzzles are so much fun. I just got a 300 piece puzzle for my daughter. We should get a big one such as this and do it together.

The made bed is fantastic!

We started a 1000-piece puzzle this summer, and it's still sitting on the table...but it's not as fun as yours. What's left is a bunch of green foliage, a bunch of pink florality, and a bunch of non-descript brown/gray/blue stuff. Who's gonna finish that??? Can you come over?
