Reading Progress

Well. This is definitely NOT going down in history as a speedy Keller course in beginning reading. [firstborn Dude had about 5 days of reading lessons before he was picking up everything in sight and inhaling all the words] But we're making progress. We just finished our first box of Bob Books, as well as a handful of Nora Gaydos readers. Something tells me that if Littlest Dude had less exposure to computer games, he would probably have a greater thirst to be a reader. Just a hunch.

photographic gymnastics: btw, I took each of these while we were smooshed together in my reading chair. 1st pic is camera held above my head, 3rd pic is camera balanced precariously on my knee.

Laughing about the computer games one. There are phonics games though that my youngest loved to play on the computer.

My firstborn was the same way. He was reading dino names at 4 just because he wanted to learn them all. lol

Well your post proves to me that I don't have to wait on hubby to get some great shots. :)

And I am missing getting to participate this week in "faces". My picture software program has a "bug" in it and who wants to blog w/o pictures!lol :)

I cannot believe you took that last shot yourself ~ what a wonderful moment you captured. Amazing!

That third shot is AMAZING! I am so inspired.

We used those same books :)

I have lots of great early readers you may be interested in. I've been trying to find a home for them. If you would like them let me know! :)

Impressive photgraphic skills/gymnastics!

We love Bob Books. They're perfect for beginning readers.

Both my boys read at levels way above their age. Thank goodness they both seem to love reading. Remy's just recently exploded with his.

Wow... the third one is very impressive because I was wondering who took it of you until I read that you took it yourself with it balanced on your knee. VERY cool! And I have to giggle about the video games. But aren't video games helping with hand-eye coordination and developing fine motor skills? :)

I'm so impressed you took that last photo. In my do-it-yourself photos I always end up chopping off heads or limbs : (

Melinda -
no need to be impressed. I took plenty of pics with chopped off heads & limbs. I just deleted those instead of posting them ;-).

Mighty talented photographer!

When my youngest son was beginning to read, he was a video game freak. I bought a lot of learning type computer games. Also, I stopped reading the instructions on the Pokemon game for his Gameboy. He had some incentive all of a sudden. :-)

LOL about the chopped off heads and limbs. I did that the other day. Loved the photo I ended up with, but had to delete *a lot* of photos. :)

Isn't it funny how our guys develop at their own pace? Levi loves stories and words, but the learning to read part was torture. Once he got past a certain point, his reading exploded and he now reads voraciously. Luke has never been into stories or words, but decided he wanted to learn to read before he turned four. The learning process has been smooth and enjoyable, but I doubt he will be a voracious reader like his brother. I can't wait to see what Leif is like. :) I think it would be boring if they were all the same!

Way to multitask, Mom! That is so me. Gotta have a more interesting way than the Bob books to hold my undivided attention--not that Bob isn't important!

so gorgeous Susan.

And how nifty you are getting at taking photos of yourself lol!
I bet your camera is rather heavy to hold above your head!

I love the last one. I blogged over from I heart faces for some tips. I can NOT do a self portrait without my nose looking like I recieved a transplant from a giant ogre. Plus it is so hard to forget about the camera and relax when you are holding it. In this shot you look like you didn't even know you were having your picture! Now THAT is a gift.

Agree on the last comment - you make a great self-model! I am terrible at posing for other photographers and even worse for myself...
