2nd Annual Gingerbread House "Tradition"

Here are some pictures from our first annual "tradition":

CA Christmas

More California Christmas

Making Christmas Cookies

Interesting fact: this time last year, I was swimming in lemons coming off my little lemon bush. This year? No lemons at all. :-(

And here's this year's house...

$9.99 well spent at Costco. I do get to count this as "art" for school, right? If so, that's a cheap "class." :-)

Yep. Most definitely art.

I need to get another one this year. I'm guessing it won't look anything like yours with my boys helping, LOL.

Your photos are magical.

I love the lemons! And I'm impressed at your boys' icing skills on the second house! Yes it absolutely counts as "art". I'm counting it too!

Hi Susan ~ I just wanted to stop by to thank you for visiting my blog as part of BATW this week. And now my jaw is hitting the floor in awe over photography! You are amazingly skilled with your camera.

I will definitely be checking back here for inspiration. Wow!

Ayup! Looks like "art" to me!

And I'm going to echo Julie... they are impressive tidy and organized in their decorating.

My kitchen has always looked like it's imploded after a project like this. ;)

So beautiful!!!
What lens did you use?

Macro?

Fabulous photography!
Great decorating!

Julie & Darcy -
*I* was the icer. The boys were the decorators extraordinaire. :-) And they were surprisingly tidy.

Donna - not macro (except maybe the first two photos from last year) - I can't handhold that lens and I was too lazy to pull out my tripod for these photos, which I took with my handy 24-105 zoom lens.

Gorgeous gingerbread house! I've never made one. I am such an awful mother. I need to buy the stuff to do one THIS week. My boys would love it.

You have a lemon tree?! How cool!

Art and architecture, I think.

Love the pictures of the beaters being licked. Childhood bliss!

I am impressed with the orderliness of the house. Ours were always from the "more is better" school of design.

Wow! You're pictures make all that tedious work look fun! I don't know if that would stay like though around here. I think my kids would be stealing candy off it! Happy WW!

That is just too perfect, beautifully photographed!

They did a great job and you did a fantastic job on the pics as always. I wished you lived closer so I could get senior pics for my oldest done. The photographer hunt continues. (sigh)

Um Er your space is really making me want to change mine!

Maybe over the holidays I can.

Q: The software that you use to do your collages can be bought in 3 different varieties. Can I use the most basic level to achieve the collages that you create? If you have a higher level and don't know that's okay.

I am just easily inspired every time I visit! :-)

Gotta LOVE those bright colors! Mmm. Our gingerbread house never got built last year. So we built it for Easter and made it a church--and it turned out so fun! This year I have made no attempt whatsoever.

Love it! And I would call it art. Cause this is not something we do at our house. I paid $50 for Madalyn to make one at the Young Chef's academy. $50 well spent...

My kids are going to assemble our gingerbread house this very weekend. They don't know that yet.

You are a good mother!!

*confession* We don;t even have a tree up yet, and with the snow falling as I type they won't get one tomorrow either.
