I am so glad you did this! I have been dying to know the difference between what comes directly out of your camera and what kind of magic you do with your software. Fabulous!

So much fun!!! BTW I love your website (you play some of my favorite music) and your pictures. I wish you were here in Arizona because if you were I would have come and take pictures of my little family.

I'm not very familiar with Lightroom, Susan. It looks like something I'd definitely enjoy, though!
A question: Are presets to Lightroom what actions are to Photoshop?

Gorgeous. As usual :-) And how did I miss your two other posts? Or maybe you did them today. But...I LOVE "The Giver." Great, great book. Even though "Deconstructing Penguins" lambasts it. I still love it.

I took extra classes to finish my graduate degree before my baby was born last year. Since I had the baby, I'm always taking pictures of her 'cause she's growing so fast. I'm just now catching up on all the latest software like CS4 and Lightroom, but missed the chance of getting a student discount. I work two full-time jobs at home as a Project Manager and a mom, so I haven't seriously considered starting a business where I can write-off expenses for software and all. The retail price is a bit costly for someone like me who right now just wants to play with the programs as a hobby. It's still interesting though to keep up with what's out there, so I appreciate your posts. Thanks!

Felicia - Thank you so much. I love the music, too ;-) And I love AZ, also - all my childhood vacations were on the Colorado River near Lake Havasu. FUn memories...

Candid - Precisely! They're like actions - only you don't have to actually apply them to see how they effect the image (just scroll over it to see the effect). Be sure to check academicsuperstore.com for the homeschool discount.

Kat - It's funny The Giver gets bad press in many places - mostly comparing it to Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 and finding it lacking. But I never read either of those classics (or really any Sci-fi), so I quite liked The Giver.

Piggy - expensive indeed.

Saw you over on another site and thought I'd drop by for a visit. What amazing photography! I sooo wish I had the gift--and was close to an ocean!

Glad I stopped by.
