We just received word that the Teen "broke" into quarter finals in his Novice Impromptu speech category. It was the first time he'd ever given Impromptu speeches. We're thrilled!

Debate.
This has been our whole week. After watching friends (Hi, Di! Totally miss you this year!!!) debate for the last couple years, we finally threw our hat into the ring this year. The Teen signed up for Team Policy and Novice Impromptu. Long story short (leaving a little family history here): Teen's partner needed to pull out of debate back in January. At the proverbial 11th hour, our coach and another team's coach were able to pair up the Teen and a new partner. They both fearlessly jumped into the new partnership and are both debating in their first tournament this week at Concordia. So very many talented students at this speech/debate tourney. It kinda gives one hope for the future :-).

Tell him Congratulations! What an accomplishment!!!
That takes BRAVERY. What an awesome experience for him. He will go far being able to speak his opinions articulately in front of people. WOW!!! :)
I debated for three years in high school and I never got over the nerves. But it was an amazing foundation for confidence in later life situations. Congratulations to your son for such an impressive showing!
Good for him! I guess if you can switch partners at the last minute without skipping a beat, you are cut out for impromptu! Very cool.
So very exciting and congrats! I do better with photos than public speaking...good for him...great life skills here!
Absolutely fantastic. He looks so handsome in his suit. I am proud of him!
