Bye-bye 2011. Hello, 2012 ...

New Year's Resolution: complete & upload to publisher/printer last year's family album.
Completed Jan 2, thus fulfilling this year's obligatory resolution (grin).

snipit of whole album

10000 family photos.
Culled down to my favorite 800.
Compiled into a 100-page album.

Today I open up a new Lightroom Catalog for 2012 and begin the process all over again.

Happy New Year, Y'all!

So wonderful to have those memories at your fingertips. I can imagine your layouts are just beautiful. Our grandson is coming tomorrow for his first visit. His mom and I were discussing how to manage photos...albums, photo books, digital scrap books. I'll have to show her how a pro handles it! So inspiring...Happy New Year to you!

where do you print this monstrosity? I want to start one for our family this year.

Anita! - yay for grandson's first visit! enjoy :-) Oh, and this probably won't surprise you, but I think Lightroom is the most awesome photography organizational tool ever.

Melissa - this is my 5th annual family album that I've printed thru MyPublisher. :-)

so when you print 100 pages does it hold up well? that seems like a very heavy album.
also, do you design your own pages in photoshop? surely lightroom doesn't do those templates.

the pages are like the thickness of magazine pages. the entire album isn't more than 3/4" thick. so far mine have held up fine. it is possible to design templates in Lightroom, but I think that would probably be a pretty cumbersome task. I use Fotofusion software to design the pages (but MyPublisher has free software that is drag & drop and easy).

This is so impressive, Susan! I'm a scrapbooker, and for some reason I am still working on 2005. I would love to figure out a way to get more current. I think I don't really use Lightroom to its fullest organization capabilities. I need to investigate this a bit more. Congratulations on completing your resolution!

I am envious of your beautiful photo books. Must get on that.

this is SO fabulous. thank you for the post on IHF about your album ... you inspired me. and you didn't even know it, but you taught me how to do a maternity comparison in the "print" module by assigning key words to them. all because i decided to start keywording more of my images. so thank you for that, as well! :)

and now that you've fulfilled your resolution, kick back and relax the rest of the year!
