Good Friday

... And they led Him out to crucify him. They brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull...

1. Father forgive them, for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34).
2. Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise (Luke 23:43).
3. Woman, behold your son: behold your mother (John 19:26-27).
4. Eli Eli lama sabachthani? ("My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?", Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34).
5. I thirst (John 19:28).
6. It is finished (John 19:30).
7. Father, into your hands I commit my spirit (Luke 23:46).

And having said this, He bowed His head, He gave up His spirit, He breathed His last.

Everytime I read this I am humbled. I want to get up whereever I am and prostrate myself before my precious Jesus and say thank you, which of course sound so empty and hollow! Thank you faithful sister in Christ for reminding us of the price. He is risen! Shi~

especially as a parent, can you not imagine Gods greatest sacrifice of his only beloved son? such a sad, yet moving time of year.

Our boss gave us a paid holiday today. Not many do.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad on this day...a combination of both

Rhea - good point. I've often thought that as well. For me I think it's sadness that my choices, my sin, my messed-upness led to His sacrifice. But the hope of course is the triumph over death, and what His payment did for us!

I spent last night watching the Passion with the two teens here. It surely puts it in perspective even more for me, and I'm sure for them as well. Definitely a Good Friday well spent... thanks Susan
