Please take note of the Dudes' awesome Spiderman impersonations. ;-)
Pretty much weekly we head to the local YMCA so the boys can burn off some energy at the Rock Wall. It's been a great place to go for fun exercise. And the boys have always wanted to go just for the sake of the wall. Until recently. The Y decided to "new & improve" itself by making the Rock Wall room into a "Kid Zone" room, complete with a large screen tv and Wii. Gag, cough, cough, sputter with indignation. A gym. Adding a tv. And video games. Can you hear the expletives I'm thinking?!? Now, when we go, these are the words we say first: "Climb to the top 5x BEFORE you play the Wii." sigh.

Dang, that's one awesome kids' room at the local Y. I love that rock wall. Nice action shots!!
oh what a travesty! The wall climbing looks like an awesome way for the boys to have fun, though!
I think that the wii is great. My husband is doing his work outs with the wii rather than the gym on the suggestion of his doctors. However. Young, active children...ummm...that is strange! :-)
I agree with you 100%. That said, I also agree Rhea - that is a cool room.
I love the dangling from the rope upside down shot. Yikes. We go to the Y, also. Love it!
That is all kinds of wrong. Aren't they trying to get kids to be *active* in spite of all the video games and TV they watch at home? That room is pretty cool, though. :)
Pretty hip YMCA!
what are they thinking? I would be very annoyed too. The rock wall is awesome though.
I suppose it is very slightly better than just a TV. Sigh...
oh now that looks like a blast!
I'm not sure about the Wii, but that rock wall "rocks". I'm a little jealous of your Y. Our poor Y is quite dilapidated.
Couldn't they at least limit it to Wii Sports or Wii Fit games where you can play and workout at the same time? My husband is a jock and doesn't get sore playing sports, but he had trouble getting out of bed after playing Wii Bowling for hours with his cousins over the holidays. :D
Oh No! I would feel the same way. How dare they??? I love the rock wall. We needed that today. I felt like I was herding cattle all day.
That is an awesome gym : ). Wowser. So funny that you have to make them climb first. That wall looks cool as can be. Do they keep an attendant in there at all times to help the kids or is it 'climb at your own risk'?
i love how they still have their climbing harnesses on while playing the video game :)
That rock wall is FANTASTIC! Back many many years ago I used ro climb and even helped teach little ones to climb at a summer camp out in Cali. Great memories and I was in the best shape of my life then.
Wii??? That's just somehow wrong in a place for physical fitness. I agree with your reaction.
