January in SoCal is usually pretty fun. Every year I've been here, there's been a "freak summer" week or two or three. So we went to the beach to enjoy the extra low tide, the sunset, and some hot chocolate.
Milk. check. Chocolate. check. cups. check. camping coffee pot. check. butane. check.
But, alas, no fire. We forgot matches. And Littlest Dude was NOT interested in having cold chocolate. All was not well with the universe...
... til Big Dude brought out the "light" toys. And peace and harmony and happiness were restored.
Too bad I didn't know Big Dude had light tricks up his sleeves. Or I woulda brought my tripod. :-(
Despite our lack of fire, a good time was [mostly] had by all.

That does look like fun and what gorgeous pics.
I love the places you get to picnic at. I am thinking I must come for a visit soon but to see you of course and not your pretty scenery. : )
We went to the park yesterday and it was so revitalizing.

What a fun post, :). It looks like the boys had fun after all.
Your scenery just totally rocks.

Dad saves the day! Love that Socal weather.
Those are great photos - especially like the 5th one!
You must have used the "kneepod"--pretty good improvising!
My kid can lick his nose too. Fun times!
Beautiful pictures! I love the one of your son flashing the light in his mouth, how cool!!
Hey, we have that same Legoland cup! :) My little guy would have been very disappointed, too. He loves hot chocolate! Love your light/silhouette shots, tripod or not!
What a fun day!
Every time I visit your blog you make me want to move to So Cal. It's just so beautiful there and you capture that beauty in a wonderful way.
I thought you did great with the light photos despite the lack of a tripod. Very cool!
I love these shots. Even if you didn't get to heat your chocolate.
Poor littlest dude! What a sad face! Love the light pics!
Where did you take these photos? I love the colors? We're headed to SoCal in April and I'd love a quiet little beach like that!

This cove is in Laguna Beach, a couple blocks north of the Montage Resort, essentially at Moss Drive and PCH.
But, really, truly, ALL the beaches in Laguna are wonderful. You can't go wrong with any of them.
