Change your perspective...

... specifically, hold your camera down near the ground.

Moss Cove 5-000001

*I* wasn't down on the ground. I just held the camera down there. I set it in program mode (similar to full-auto) just for the heck of it. And was so tickled with the result.

Moss Cove 6-000001

(again, these are all SOOC images. the contrast/sharpness/saturation is boosted in-camera).

Do you use a Nikon? I'm so curious! Your colors aren't as washed as Canon tends to be... And do you live by the sea, or are you just visiting?

Here's a recent shot I tried from down on the ground...

I LOVE this angle... in fact I do it a lot right now! Great Sunset shots!

These images are gorgeous, Susan! What were your in-camera settings? Where did you meter from? Great angle...I hope you didn't get too much sand on your camera. I'd hesitate to get down on sand, but I'd plopped down there if I could get a shot as good as yours. :)

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. The coloring turned out spectacular. I love getting really low for shots also. I usually get dirty, though. :)

Kelly-
we're blessed to live a few miles from the sea. and I shoot with Canon (but for these pics I had boosted the color saturation setting in camera). I loved your daily pictures. I'll head back later today to peruse more :-)

JennB-
I didn't actually place my camera ON the sand. I'm fairly paranoid about the danger of sand to a camera!! I held it down BY, but not ON the sand (and I wouldn't even do that if it were at all windy. sand can be death to a camera).

Settings ...
Sharpness 3, Contrast 1, Color Saturation 2.

Confession regarding metering: I wasn't intentionally metering anything. I was shooting "blindly" - just holding the camera down near the sand (I was sitting up), in program mode, and clicking away. That's kind of what made it so fun. Not a darn technical thing about it. :-)

Heidi -
hehe. I may be a mom of 3 boys, as are you, but I do NOT like getting dirty. It's one of my few girly traits.

Thanks for sharing your settings, Susan! I couldn't believe these were on program mode. Fantastic! I'm going to try them out.

Thanks again! :)
