"What can I get for you?"

Dad and I had just walked up to the local Starbucks. Dad, to get a paper for himself and to treat me to a coffee (he's nice like that!)...

Me: A grande, raspberry mocha made with nonfat milk, please.

Nice Sbux Man: Oh. So you don't want whipped cream, then?

Me: No, I'd like whipped cream, please.

NSM: Whipped Cream and nonfat milk?? Isn't that kind of like pizza and Diet Coke?!?

Me [thinking, not saying out loud, because I'm polite like that]: Yup. Pizza and DC is one of my favorite combos. I don't see the contradiction. It's a TASTE thing. NOT a calorie thing.

I COMPLETELY get it! Even though I gave up the Diet Coke about a year ago, it USED to be my favorite combo! And it's got to be nonfat milk in my tea (I'm not a coffee drinker).

I can't believe you didn't say it outloud :-)

And I always order like that. And make the pre-emptive strike - to say that I need balance. A little yin for my yang.

My favorite combo is skim milk and a donut :-)

Smiling with you! What a nice treat to be with your dad over a Sbux.

I am trying out fotofusion. :)

Hilarious. I do the nonfat/no whip version myself, but I can see a million reasons why you'd do a nonfat/whip version. Saving calories on one, so you can enjoy the other, or like in your instance, for taste.

That Starbucks guys is a dork. Like he needs to argue with you about what YOU want to drink!

Very funny! I do the Diet Coke/pizza thing all the time. :)

(I was wondering if you would mind sending me an email at angelastamps@hotmail.com. I have a question I'd like to ask you if you have the time.) Thank you!!

Yep - it's the best kind of combo..but for me, it is a calorie thing as well. Can't believe the NSM actually said that to you. :)

I'm with you on the nonfat milk with whipped cream. I do that too. But I draw the line at Diet Coke. I don't like the taste of Diet Anything. Actually I don't like soda much, but once every six months I might have a Root Beer. That is, if I were in the States. And I think I recall from about a decade ago that I like Pepsi better than Coke, but I'm not sure.
