Sticks and Stones

An outing with boys almost always necessarily includes gathering sticks, brandishing them as weapons, and throwing rocks. It's what boys do.

How do you keep yourself from not wanting to take home some of those beautiful rocks?!

Good times, beautifully captured.

I just had a marvelous idea. I am going to wrap up boxes of sticks and stones for my boys for Christmas. I'm guessing that would be their favorite gift, and my Christmas budget just got a breather. Perfect. Thanks for the inspiration :) and the stunning pictures as always!

Boy, does that look familiar. Note to self: get down closer to the rocks. :-) Very fun!

I think that my girls would be doing the exact same thing. And look at how far behind I am on my visiting!!

Love the afternoon of bowling. Michael is taking the girls this weekend when I am gone...

It's so nice to have a place to go where boys can just be boys...throwing rocks and sticks. They just NEED it. I love your beach outings.

Some girls like sticks and stones, too. It's just cause you only have boys that you only see that side! On our October road trip all four of us had fun throwing rocks into a lake, and Jason and Emily spent countless hours battling with each other with their walking sticks / staffs. But it is quite possible that if we only had girls it wouldn't have been quite as popular a pastime...
