I feel all bereft...

IMG_3718

I finished the Twilight series. And now there's a tiny sad void in my day and night.

I won't tell you that this book is a great piece of literature. It isn't.
I won't tell you it's sophisticated. Because it's not.
I won't tell you I didn't roll my eyes throughout it and wish the author had a heavier-handed editor. I did. (especially in the 2nd book)

But. BUT...

I can't remember in recent history having more fun reading a series. I would get a certain twinkle in my eye each time I thought, "Hey, I have some time. I think I'll go curl up and read some more of the Bella & Edward saga." I know Big Dude thought I was nuts and even Eldest Dude rolled his eyes at the thought of Mommy reading her vampire books. But, oh well. 'Twas FUN, I tell you.

And I'm so thankful for Julie's enthusiasm and generosity. I was on a very long waiting list at the library (darn all those teenage girls!) for the 3rd book, when I won the drawing at Julie's blog for the last two books in the series. Because Julie is such a pimp HUGE FAN of the books, she got to go to the Post-production party and the Cast Screening of the Movie. Of course, it does help to be married to the very talented Sound Mixer!

Oh Susan, I'm soooo glad you posted this! I decided that I want the series for Christmas & I'm looking forward to some fun reading. I thought about the library too, but I know the list would be waaaayyy too long. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait and see if Santa stops by with it. BTW, DrillSgt. and I went to watch the movie, we both liked it (even if it is geared toward teenage girls), there was enough in there to make it a fun date night movie.

Hugs & Blessings!

Confessions are good. I stayed up one night this past week and read the entire first book. I thought I would only read "one chapter". Now I am impatiently waiting on the next one. Julie twisted my arm and I so glad she did!

Oh no...not you too!! I LOVE these books, pure twaddle ;) I'm almost done with number two. Have you seen the movie? Inquiring minds want to know...Edward or Jacob?!

Yes, it's true {blushing}. Sometimes twaddle is just what the doctor ordered ;-). Haven't seen the movie. Team Edward, fer sure.

Huge Edward fan here also. That's why book 2 was sooo frustrating!

By the way, your Zoo pics that Sherry sent out were amaziing!

They were a fun series to read. And I LOVE the picture of you holding the book. Too cool. So, whatever will you read next??

Not sure yet. From the library I grabbed Fahrenheit 541, Ender's Game, and a couple PD James mysteries.

I'm so glad you're on the Twilight side.

That was a great description. Pure fun.

LOL, I LOVE that picture!!!! And in regards to Twilight, I've been called an "enabler", a "dealer" and now a "pimp".

And my reply: You're welcome! ;)

And re-reading the series helps fill that void.

I am so glad to hear you read this and loved it!

My daughter in law was devouring this series and I wondered....what the heck?

But now I understand :o)

She is in good company if you liked them!

Ooh, you have some good books on your reading stack. :) (You know Fahrenheit 451 and Ender's Game are both on my list...) I enjoyed the PD James book I read a while back. Maybe I need to grab another one. Yes, pure twaddle is exactly what the doctor orders sometimes. :) I might even have to check out Twilight...

(Your picture is too fun!)

This is exactly what I told my mom when I gave it to her to read. Don't read it for literature excellence... read it because it is fun and light and comforting and addictive and really makes you feel like a teenager all over again.

It was a fun series to read. Definitely not great literature, but it brought out the teenager in me who believed in all-consuming love. Very fun.
