Photo Tip Friday

Hold on to your seat, here comes more of my total photographic brilliance (please read that statement with your tongue firmly in your cheek!)...

When you take pictures inside and flourescent or tungsten lighting gives your photos an ugly color cast, convert them to B&W or Sepia. All of sudden, they don't look quite so bad.

These photos are all from this weekend when we watched As You Like It for our family movie night. We needed the Shakespeare book to figure out what was going on. I've always been a bit dim-witted when it comes to interpreting The Bard.

I also love to convert my pix to sepia or B&W. Also softens lines on more "mature" faces. Or so I've heard. :-)

I struggle with the Bard as well. I've always found the need to check out the cliffs notes to find out what I just read. But I love Katie's versions - they are in a language I understand.

I love the sepia tint to the pictures. I have a hard time doing the no flash thing. I suppose if I knew how to work the manual settings it might work out - but then I might have to read a book. With language I don't understand. And last I checked, there was not a cliff's notes for my Canon manual...

I LOVE that collage! You know, that's a great photo tip, I have yet to do any tint conversions on any of my photos. Must try that this weekend.

Hugs & Blessings!

That collage turned out great. I love the color photo in the center with the sepia all around.

How did you like As You Like It? :) We just watched Twelfth Night and loved it. We saw it live last year and it was sooo confusing. The more you are exposed to Shakespeare in general and each play specifically, it gets easier and easier. I have Edith Nesbit's Shakespeare Stories for Children which I've really appreciated. They are very simple retellings which I read prior to viewing a play. Quite helpful!! My sister really likes the Leon Garfield retellings which are longer.

Heidi-
I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had done my pre-reading. I have Nesbit, who's good for a bare-bones summary; I have Garfield, who I think does a tremendously good children's translation, and I also have the Lambs' translation. Oh yeah, and the original. And I read NONE of them first. So I was lost in the movie. My Eldest was reading the scene summaries in our Shakespeare reference along with the movie, so he was tracking better than I.

That really is a great tip--I am so often disappointed in my indoor photos! Thanks!

Is he eating out of a dog bowl?
my camera has a white balance setting, where I can adjust for indoor light, but I usually don't bother because I don't take pics there very often.

Tearese-
hehe. Yes. and No. Yes, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be a dog bowl. My husband picked up 3 of them at IKEA for $.15 ea and dubbed them the new popcorn bowls. ;-)
