Here we are at the play. And here are the Dudes with that Merry Wanderer of the Night. (yup, in this production, Puck was a busty woman with horns who showed her devotion to Oberon by acting like an enthusiastic puppy. I told ya it was a strange, wonderful production.)

Shakespeare by the Sea...
presents a Midsummer Night's Dream. The two oldest Dudes and I went to see this last weekend. Heidi over at Mt. Hope Chronicles recently attended and blogged about her local production of this same play. It's amazing to me how very different the same play can look. Hers was a beautiful production all done in the style of the Rip Roarin' 20s (Ziegfield Follies, Charlie Chaplin, and the like...). Our production was a total hoot, but very very eclectic - some strange sort of Disney Princesses meet the Village People meet the Three Muskateers meet Mad Max meet Benjamin Franklin meet Britney Spears kind of thing ... all set in a desert with a crescent moon. It was strange, I tell ya. But good. So very good.
Here we are at the play. And here are the Dudes with that Merry Wanderer of the Night. (yup, in this production, Puck was a busty woman with horns who showed her devotion to Oberon by acting like an enthusiastic puppy. I told ya it was a strange, wonderful production.)

Awesome pics. That's my favorite play. :)
What a funny description. I saw that production once at a college and it was set in the 20's and 30's. Looks like a lot of fun.
We have a Shakespeare tavern, festival, and even camps for kids. But we've never done any of these things. We need to! Your play and pictures look absolutely amazing! And it looks like the boys had a fabulous time (love where your oldest has a hold on Puck's horns).
What awesome pictures! I love A Midsummer's Night Dream. I think SHakespeare by the Sea sounds awesome. The first time I saw AMND was in London in a big park. It was awesome.
That's just crazy! Doesn't even look like the same play, does it? I think watching the plays set in various eras and moods make them more fun to watch over and over again. Fascinating how different people interpret them in different ways. Maybe that is what makes Shakespeare so great. Thanks for sharing the photos. I loved them!!
looks like a fun time you had with your two little dudes... some rich culture exposure. Great pics, as well.
By the way, I tagged you at a game of show and tell over at my blog, in case you're interested! It would be fun to hear your answers.
It looks like you all had such a great time. Great photos. (Did you use Fotofusion for the collage this time?)
I have nominated you for an award. It will be online within the next two hours.
They had free productions of Shakespear in the park in WA, it was fun when we went. I've also been to the pricer productions at the Shakespear Festival in Cedar City, UT, which are also great. What fun.
That play looks very interesting. Those horns on Puck give me the heebies---LOL! By Eldest Dudes body language I'd say he wasn't too keen sitting next to her, but being the writer he is, I'm sure he loved the play! Great pics.
Hugs & Blessings!
Thanks, All :-)
Teri - Yes, Fotofusion :-) It's a great little piece of software!
Tearese - this was also a free production - there's one freebie every summer in a park near us. love that!
MamaC - Puck was a hoot. Actually both boys were wanting a photo with her (knock me over with a feather!!)...
It looks like a hoot! What fun!
I keep meaning to get to one, but with baseball and swimming....... you know the deal.
Patricia in WA
