Living in the Moment: January edition
The moon. The beach. The kite. The frisbee. My dudes. The amazing colors of the sunset. The little birdies.
Hey, apparently I’m not the only school-bus-colored vehicle in town…

No wind this evening. If the kite was stay up, Little Dude needed to keep running! And speaking of Little Dude running, this whole scenario reminded me oodles of his old game of [what we called] “frogger” as he ran through the tennis courts while we were hitting balls back and forth. This was him running his kite through the frisbee path …

An just like that, the sun light changed from gentle hues of pink and purple to vibrant orange …

January …
What a blur of days. Our whole family has fallen to The Sick. Such a drag. Tho, fun moments of life still happen. Lots of beach. Family visiting. First debate tourney of the year. Lunch dates. My doggie nephew came and stayed a few days. I finished a couple albums. Sunsets were … awe-inspiringly spectacular.

The heavens, the depths, the wings of dawn…
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to to the heavens, You are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there Your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.

KAUAI: The Last Bits
The big and little things I don’t want to forget. Like, this room:
This room with seating for all of us. And room to spare. I love that we all hung out in here together. Comfortably. Cozily. Sometimes doing the same thing (playing Monopoly, watching movies). Sometimes doing our own thing. But together. That was awfully nice.
The light. The glorious, warm, abundant light that filled this house during the day.
The yard. The HUGE yard.

The HUGE yard that was filled each night with HUGE bullfrogs.
Ok. A not-so-great thing: all the windows/skylights with rusted out, bent screens that allowed wasps to come and go as they pleased. The ones that didn’t leave of their own volition … we killed. Not fond of wasps.
Another not-so-great thing: this BBQ. It barely worked. Which was a bad thing, because we splurged on the house. Not on restaurants.
But the not-so-great stuff didn’t leave too bad a taste in our mouths, because of course, we were living at this beach. This beach/cove where we saw the sun rise.
And the sun set.
The sun hidden by clouds.
And the sun gloriously shining.
This jeep, which was so much fun. With the top on and the top off. It was so much fun, it may have had something to do with encouraging our recent purchase.
This jeep, that Big Dude was happy to pull to the side of the road to let me grab snapshots of beauty.
Speaking of, and not that I could ever forget this, but … there’s pretty much a beautiful vista wherever you are on this island…

And lastly, our one nice meal out (we were probably fed up with the BBQ) at The Common Ground. Really yummy food.
This trip was a blessing. Truly.
