Yesterday I blogged a boatload of family vacation images that I *love*. At the end of that post I asserted that my “style” has two elements that I fully embrace. The first is … to get the very best, totally authentic pictures of a kiddo, let the kiddo PLAY.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it? And it is. And it’s effective. And fun. And not overwrought with painstakingly torturous posing. Just play.
I think these images show an authentic slice of who my nephew is. He is in his world. Doing his thing. And despite living daily life amongst many sisters, he is a boy’s boy. He is tough. Fearless. Fast. And yet, quiet. Confident; comfy in his own skin. And he has the sweetest Mona Lisa smile, just like his older sister.
Let the kiddo play. A child at play is beautiful.

Amen. Play on babies. Play on!
I think this is the best piece of advice when I really starting photographing my own kids (instead of relying on school pictures...ugg) I was looking over some pictures of them a year or so ago and by far my favorites are the natural ones at play more than the posed head shots! Great advice :)
Adore these. And I so agree with your "play" philosophy. ;)
I love the shot where you are literally UNDER the swing. That is the absolute best perspective EVER!
He is adorable. And I am soooooo longing to be on one of those tree swings. How cool they are!
Ditto Michelle! How LOW can you GO??? You know how I love your low angles. The BW with grass texture is my favorite. YES to playing!
