Your fireworks collage is spectacular. I hate to admit that I can't remember that last time I actually pulled out my tripod. La.Zee - that would be me. :-)
Wow... great pictures Susan... were those Laguna Niguels fireworks? We went to the town center this year and they were pretty good but my husband was in charge of the camera (since I had the baby) and most of our firework shots had smoke in them. I think we might of been too close. How do you shoot your fireworks?
Fx - I wish! Nope, not ours, but my parents', so we borrow it now and then. :-)
Alysha - we went to Town Center last year and LOVED those fireworks! This year we switched at the last moment when we heard fireworks were going to be going off practically in my parents' backyard. too good to miss (and it meant I didn't have to consider hauling my tripod for the mile+ walk to the Town Center!!). Oh, and the smoke? That was in my pictures, too. I darkened my shadows to get rid of some of it. Let's see, I think these were all between f/8 & f/11, and anywhere from 1/2 sec to 10 seconds. And really, they're nothing to write home about. The low level fireworks don't "stream" as nicely as the big shows over the coast.
Kat - You could try using one of your girl's heads to steady your camera?!? :-P
Those are some beauties, Susan! And what an awesome viewing spot you had. I've not had the chance to shoot big fireworks yet. I'm hoping to next month at our airshow. But I have fun with our little street ones. :)
I was thinking when I clicked on the comments, that the other commenters would have synchronized their oohs and aahs. Apparently not. But I was totally prepared to join in!
those are beautiful shots of fireworks. nice that you had a place to set up your tripod! i didn't want to haul mine 2 miles to our destination! i also got rid of the smoke in my shots by lightening my shadows...WOW! i just realized i did that on my own, and it's the same as what you did...i'm feeling pretty smart right now!!!!! Go ME...Susan Keller wannabe!!!!!

Your fireworks shots are amazing. They put my poor pitiful photos to shame. :)Thanks for sharing! It's an inspiration.
These are very cool. Getting set up ahead of time is so important. Is that your pool?

Wow! You captured the fireworks AND we're impressed with Little Dude's swimming!
So is the key to good fireworks pictures a tripod? Any advice for those of us who don't want to schlep one to Disney??

Wow. It is so beautiful. I wish my kids are big enough for us to stay up--next year!!
Amazing work of art! Looks like a poster that you could frame and hang up. :)

You guys had the best seats in the house! Your fireworks look awesome! How nice that you didn't have to haul all your stuff.
This was my first time attempting fireworks, but ours were the backyard lame-o legal kind. LOL

I think these photos are fabulous! Is that the moon in the sky, or are there Magi traveling from the East somewhere?
