While Mom and I ate Blackberry Gingerbread Cake and perused our way through her gift, Papa kept the dudes entertained with a little "friendly" game of Texas Hold 'Em.
Woo-hoo! You're never too young for poker! Sometimes my husband and I play just the two of us, just for fun! Love the shot of the gents - the black and white is perfect for the subject matter!
you do a great job of capturing the everyday in the room things. (um what lens are you using for this kind of thing?)
so you know we are going to be curious, which book company did you go with, and did you use lumipix for some pre layout work, or just the book software?
Am I the only one who recognized your photography in the book??? Nope, Aunt Tea did too. : ) I wanna know also which co. you used to make your book. What a treasured gift to give your mom.
Hi All- All the book info should be in today's post.
Aunt Tea - yes, I did some of the lay-outs in Lumapix, when I couldn't do what I wanted in MyPublisher software. I used a 35mm f/2 (fun, cheapy lens) for the indoor nighttime shots. And, of course, they all looked abysmal without flash, so I converted them to b/w.
Rhonda - I found the recipe at Heidi's blog. Here's the post where I originally linked to it: http://shortonwords.blogspot.com/2008/08/birthday-brunch-tradition-continues.html
Minnesota Mom & Melinda- I'm afraid I'm clueless. I play lots of different card games, but haven't ever played Poker.
Thank you for the link to the blackberry gingerbread recipe. I can't wait to make it. We have a berry farm down the road from us and always get the most wonderful blackberries. Oh its gonna be sooooo good. Thanks again!

Happy Birthday to your Mom! It was my birthday yesterday, my sister's is Sunday. It's just a birthday month. :-)
Our family plays Texas Hold 'Em together, too. Love that game. And is that a hardbound book of your excellent pix I see Mom holding???
Oh I LOVE that picture of the dudes! And I KNOW your mom loved her gift. :-)
Looks like a great time! :)
Oh how fun! Happy birthday to her!!
Looks like a fun celebration! And blackberry gingerbread cake? YUM! :)
PS - Where did you get your book printed, and were you happy with it?

That looks like a lot of fun. I don't know how to play poker--such a loser, I realize.
Your mom's gift looks fantastic! Photos are always a great gift, in my book.
Happy birthday to your mom and do you think he could come over and give me some lessons in Poker...I'm tired of my hubby winning all of the time : (

I bet she loved her book!
I did one at Blurb.com for my mom for Christmas and she was thrilled! I think it'll be a tradition now.
