This first one is undeniably the best one I got of all three boys together. But the white sky, boring CA scrub bushes, and all the nasty sweat pouring thru my shirt and the Big Dude's shirt (it was a STEEP hill we climbed) make this a solid reject.
Isn't this a neat rock? Quite tricky getting in there in less than 10 seconds (self-timer shot, y'know) without banging my head!

Can you "ligtroom" in blue sky? And clone the shirt to get rid of the sweat? The faces on that one are so good!
Nope LR can't put blue where it doesn't exist in the first place (and I had to blow out the sky to expose our faces correctly). Yup, I *could* clone out sweat, but I'm a totally lazy picture editor and don't like to waste my time like that.
But ultimately, really, I'm not using Day 2 pics, because my hair looked better on day 1 (vanity of vanities....!!).
I love the first one! You have some great picture taking places!!!
I love that rock!! I'm impressed with your speedy posing using the self-timer. :o)
That first photo is great except for the scenery, but the boys and you guys have great expressions!
Oh Susan! that's so funny... our family photo sessions are quite similar. Last year was on the couch outside, I think I ran back and forth from the tripod to the couch about fifteen times (with 10 seconds!) By the end of the shoot, I was gasping for air and everyone else was falling asleep in our big cozy couch.
Great rock, btw!
Oh I LOVE the rock picture!!!
Okay Susan, how the heck did you get way back there with Big Dude on pic #2 in TEN SECONDS?! You must be one hurdling Olympic track star!! LOL!! Love all the pics, even if they are the rejects.
Hugs & Blessings!
I also love the rock idea. and the one with everyone standing in different spots is very unique.
I like the rock picture, and it would look spiffy on my fridge. :D And I may surprise you and get my Christmas cards out this year. Maybe. Perhaps by Easter. If I don't try to get a photo, I mean.
Very cool rock photo! It's definitely a keeper.
I just stopped in to say Thank You for stopping by for the BATW tour the other day. I really enjoyed having so many visitors.
KathyJo-
I'd be elated to get your Christmas card by Easter ... ESPECIALLY if you get a photo ... ESPECIALLY if you also include the dogs, goats, and chickens in the family photo. I think that would be swell! ;-)
Does Cannon make a remote? We have one for our Nikon and it saves all those mad-dashes and near-misses.
Hubby just keeps it discretely in his pocket and clicks a bunch of them. Still... not sure any of them turn out that good. ;)
beautiful pics susan! you have one beautiful family.
I might steal the idea of the middle one. I think our C-Mas card list only overlaps a few people, and I'm happy to give credit where credit us due! I love that shot.

Tonya-
Copy away :-) And never fear, you'll look totally original, because I didn't use that one on my card (hey, stop that! I can hear you groaning thru the computer ... yes, I did make our cards already, cause I'm obsessive like that!!).
OK...not sure if I have seen pics of you before on your blog, but you look EXACTLY how I pictured you! You are beautiful and so is your family!
