A Little Bit of Snow. A Whole Lot of Wind.

Coming down the pass, we stopped to appreciate the high-up-far-away view of Mono Lake.  It was a little snowy.  Really windy (I couldn’t even keep my eyes open when facing the direction of the wind).  And there were just a few bumper stickers for … decoration?  You can see the road we’ll be driving down cutting thru the middle of the first picture – but we won’t get down there before heading offroad for a little sightseeing and rock climbing…IMG_5090IMG_5092IMG_5094We’ve seen these beautiful snowy mountain ranges from lake level at sunrise, but it was fun to see them from above.IMG_5097Well, hello, dirt road …IMG_5110

Through the Windows. Hwy 395.

Yikes. Back to our last roadtrip ... I got a little sidetracked by Shakespeare, the Supermoon, shooting ranges, photo sessions and finishing the dudes' school yearbook. So, the last roadtrip. That's the one where we were going to hike through Yosemite, rock climb in Truckee, and shoot at targets in the great wide open. But instead we hit a bunch of snow. In April. Everywhere we went. So, instead, we had snowball fights and built snowmen. Which was pretty dang cool and novel for we SoCal peeps. The other travel pics can be found here.

These are my "through the window at 65mph" pictures of our drive back home, specifically of Hwy 395 between Reno, heading south, to just above Mono Lake. It's a portion of Hwy 395 that we'd never traveled before, and it was beautiful...

Field o’ Mustard. Orange County Photographer

We waited a long, long time for this session.  We needed a field of mustard, as that is part of Tiphanie's vision for a worship cd she's creating.  Unfortunately, mustard has not been growing in abundance this year. We found pockets of it on hillsides.  We found sparse patches here and there.  But, no fields.

Faith like a mustard seed …

Photo-Crafting

Those of you who know me know that “crafting” is not my middle name.  But this particular one was pretty easy, not too messy, and fool-proof enough even for those of us (pointing finger at self) who are crafting-inept.  IMG_7019I got all my supplies from Candy’s Etsy shop.  Below are all my ingredients for this craft recipe:IMG_7021The particular trays that I bought will hold a 1.25” square photo.  So I picked out a few favorite family photos, printed them on a 4x6 photo, cut them out (no precision necessary – crooked edges don’t show up in the end product), and dropped them in the tray to see which I liked best.IMG_7020choicesThen I just poured a couple drops of the glue in the tray, swished it around with a brush I pulled out of Little Dude’s watercolor paint box, and dropped in my chosen photo.necklace quadI let it dry for an hour or so, repeated the glue step on top of the photo and dropped in the glass tile.  Easy-peasy, I tell ya.  And kinda cute, if I do say so myself.finished necklace
